Call For Designers

"Each design was as intricate as the next. Regardless of their theme, the style of the dress or what kind of paper they chose to make their design out of, each designer clearly put in a lot of time and effort to enthrall the audience—which made the event even more special." Coollivin', Paper Fashion Show 2019

The ONE Club for Creativity – Denver is pleased to announce registration for our highly anticipated spring 2024 Paper Fashion Show is now open— supporting cutting-edge, Colorado-made creative work, and our friends at DAVA. Since 2004, over 550 paper fashions have been created and consequently viewed by thousands of curious, enthusiastic observers—there to celebrate this beloved art medium.

    WHAT IS THE PFS

What is the Paper Fashion Show?

"The amazing turnout, fabulous pieces and momentous party made for one of the best runway shows in Denver." Jon Jon & Co., Paper Fashion Show 2018

The Paper Fashion Show is an annual event that showcases fashion designs made from 90% paper. This unique and creative fashion show features garments and accessories crafted from various types of paper materials. Designers, both amateur and professional, participate in the event, creating stunning and innovative pieces using paper donated by paper mills, coordinated by Kelly Spicers Paper.

The Paper Fashion Show provides a platform for artists and designers to demonstrate their creativity, skills, and resourcefulness in working with unconventional materials. The event includes a grand runway show where the paper-made creations are presented, and a panel of judges evaluates the designs. Winners receive recognition and awards, further encouraging artistic expression within the constraints of paper as a medium.

From the beginning, The Paper Fashion Show has partnered with Downtown Aurora Visual Arts (DAVA), a local community organization that provides after-school arts programs for Aurora's urban youth. DAVA’s community art center is an island of creativity in Aurora, Colorado. Every student that walks through our doors experiences the transformative power of high quality out-of-school programs that develop art, social, and life skills. Free year-round programming engages kids from pre-school through high school. At the show, DAVA students work alongside professional designers and creators, see their fashions, walk the runway. They also participate in the judging of the events designs.

Since the Paper Fashion Show’s™ inception, The One Club for Creativity – Denver has donated over $66,000 to DAVA.

    HOW IT WORKS

How It Works

Each team designs one (1) unique fashion to be presented on the runway. Designs may be for men or women and are not limited to dresses. Paper is provided by Kelly Spicers Paper and the paper mills they represent at no charge to the designers and artists. The paper can be written on, printed on, painted on, dyed, manipulated, etc. Binding techniques such as sewing, glue, tape, and wire are allowed.

Fashions must abide by the 90% paper rule to be eligible for competition. A panel of judges will judge each fashion and category winners will be recognized with individual recognition and trophies.

Design teams will be provided with guidelines and judging criteria.

Testimonials

“I like participating in the Paper Fashion Show because it gives me an opportunity to work with a conventional material in an unconventional way. As a brand designer, 75% of my work day is in front of a computer screen so I love opportunities to work with my hands and build something that requires little or no technology. I can do that with the paper dress projects. This year will be my 10th fashion entry! In addition to creating things I also have a great time at the Fashion Show event. There is a glitz, glamor and energy to it that is so fun—and all to support some amazing creative programs with both the One Club and DAVA.”
